The musical adaptation of Prince’s “Purple Rain” will premiere in Minneapolis next year, running at the State Theatre from April 10, 2025, to May 11, 2025, with the official opening night on April 30. Following its Minneapolis run, the musical is slated to move to Broadway.
The production has announced that former Prince band members Morris Hayes and Bobby Z will serve as advisors. Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is adapting the musical, and it will be directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz.
