A contingent of Kenyan police officers is scheduled to depart from Nairobi on June 25 to lead a multinational mission backed by the UN in Haiti, aimed at combating gang violence and restoring peace.
Approximately 1,000 Kenyan officers will participate alongside personnel from other countries.
Despite facing legal challenges in Kenya, including a court ruling in January that initially delayed the deployment, the government secured necessary agreements by March.
President William Ruto has described the mission as a humanitarian effort, confirming deployment to begin soon.
The United States is providing financial and logistical support, while Benin, the Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, and Chad are also contributing personnel to assist the Kenyan contingent.
Haiti, particularly Port-au-Prince, has been severely affected by gang violence, with significant areas under gang control.
