Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, addressed the frequent deaths among her fellow actors, attributing them to carelessness and negligence within the industry.
Speaking in Lagos recently, she highlighted the impact of late actor John Okafor’s (Mr. Ibu) death on her, emphasizing that the joy of performing sometimes leads actors to neglect their health.
“When you’re deeply engrossed in something you love, you often overlook taking care of yourself. Some people, when ill, opt for over-the-counter medications rather than seeking proper medical attention,” she lamented. “This carelessness worries me. We focus on making others smile but forget to safeguard our own health.”
Reflecting on Mr. Ibu’s burial, Ozokwor tearfully recalled realizing his permanent absence when she called out to him without response. “That moment, I broke down. It wasn’t expecting a reply, but realizing he’s gone forever,” she said.
She urged her colleagues to prioritize regular medical check-ups and ditch habits that jeopardize their well-being.
