Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that Iran feels compelled to “take revenge” after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday.
Khamenei, on his website, condemned the Zionist regime for killing their “dear guest” and mentioned that this action has set the stage for severe retribution.
Khamenei highlighted that Haniyeh had been ready to give his life for their cause for many years, having already sacrificed his children and loved ones.
He emphasized that Haniyeh was unafraid of martyrdom for the sake of God and protecting others.
Given this tragic event within Iran’s borders, Khamenei asserted the necessity for revenge.
Haniyeh was in Tehran for the swearing-in of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.
