Nigerian artist Ololade Ahmed, known as Asake, has set a record as the first African musician to top Spotify’s global debut chart. This achievement follows the release of his third studio album, “Lungu Boy,” which reached number one on the chart.
The 15-track album, featuring artists like Wizkid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Central Cee, and Ludmilla, achieved the highest first-day streaming numbers for an African album on Spotify, with 9.42 million streams.
Notably, the track “MMS” featuring Wizkid set a record for the most first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria, totaling 870,000 streams.
