In a surprising turn of events, Chidimma Adentshina accepted the invitation to compete for the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 title.
This announcement comes after she decided to withdraw from the Miss South Africa pageant due to harassment over her Nigerian and Mozambican roots, expressing concern for the safety and well-being of her family.
Having been considered a heavy favourite in the Miss South Africa 2024 competition, Chidimma’s decision to step down undoubtedly left many of her supporters disappointed.
However, the Miss Universe Nigeria organization wasted no time in reaching out to Chidimma, offering their support and understanding of the challenges she faced. Their message, conveyed via Instagram, expressed empathy for the circumstances surrounding her withdrawal and extended their support and encouragement.
Chidimma who spoke in a video that went viral on Wednesday said she is excited to have been invited by the organisers of the Nigerian beauty contest after what she recently faced in South Africa, her country of residence.
She said, “I express my gratitude to the incredible people who have shown me so much love and so much support. I have received an invitation from an organiser of the Miss Universe Nigeria Beauty Pageant.”
“This is a great excitement because I have decided to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria Beauty Pageant 2024,” she added.
“Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I look forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Universe Nigeria” she said.
According to reports, there were concerns about the selection process for Chidimma’s eligibility to contest.
Ben Murray-Bruce, the founder of Silverbird Group, the pageant organisers, says Chidimma Adetshina got his number after they extended an invitation to her via Social Media.
