At least 20 more people lost their lives and 450 were injured in Lebanon on Wednesday following a series of new wireless device explosions in the South, Bekaa, and Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to reports from the Ministry of Health and the Lebanese Red Cross. Ten Hezbollah members were confirmed among the dead.
The Lebanese Red Cross reported that over 30 ambulances are providing treatment and evacuations, and 95 of the injured have been transported to Iran for medical care.
The Lebanese Army has urged citizens to avoid areas impacted by security incidents to allow medical teams access.
Fires broke out in homes, vehicles, and shops due to the explosions, with Civil Defense members working to control them.
In response to the incidents, all walkie-talkie devices were confiscated from security personnel at Beirut’s Rafiq Hariri International Airport.
A day earlier, explosions from pagers claimed the lives of at least 12 civilians and left 2,800 injured, with 460 of the injuries being critical, according to Health Minister Firass Abiad.
Many victims suffered from facial and eye injuries, while others sustained hand and finger damage.
Sources indicated Israel was responsible for these explosions, with each pager containing about 1 to 2 ounces of explosives.
Hezbollah announced the deaths of 11 of its members on Tuesday and is investigating the incident.
In a statement, Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attacks, calling it a “criminal aggression” that claimed civilian lives.
The group also pledged continued support for Gaza and warned of retaliation. Among the dead were civilians, including two children, aged 8 and 11.
Additionally, 14 people were wounded in attacks targeting Hezbollah members in Syria.
