Residents of Ikuru in the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have imposed an indefinite suspension on their troubled paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty, King Aaron Miller Ikuru, for failing to appear before an inquiry panel regarding the handling of N3 billion allocated to the community.
The suspension was announced by Elder Gad Uwa, the panel’s secretary, following the conclusion of a previous six-month suspension placed on the monarch by the community.
This earlier suspension was due to his inability to account for the N3 billion provided by Green Energy International Limited for community electrification and other financial matters.
According to the statement, the community panel acted within its rights under Section 138 of the Ikuru Constitution of 1986 to demand the monarch’s explanation regarding the management of these funds. The statement also noted, “As you are aware, your six-month suspension by the Ikuru Town General Assembly, as authorized by Section 81 of the Ikuru Town Constitution of 1996, has recently expired.”
