A Turkish national airline was compelled to make an emergency landing in New York after a pilot died mid-flight, as reported by the airline on Wednesday.
Yahya Ustun, an airline spokesperson, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the flight had departed from Seattle on Tuesday evening. He stated, “The pilot of our Airbus A350 flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed during the flight.”
Despite efforts to provide first aid, the flight crew, consisting of another pilot and a co-pilot, decided to make an emergency landing, but the pilot had already died by the time they landed.
Ustun noted that the 59-year-old pilot had been with the airline since 2007 and had successfully passed a medical examination in March, which indicated no health issues.
