In ‘R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey, ‘ Buku Abi, who is also Known as Joanne Kelly, stated, “I was too scared to tell anybody. ”
Kelly refutes the accusations made by the 26 year old in a new documentary for TVEI Streaming Network, consisting of two parts.
Despite going to the police, Abi
claims he sexually assaulted her as a child and never faced consequences.
“He was everything to me. I didn’t even want to accept that it had happened for a very long time. A distraught Buku said, “I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person, he would do something to me. ”
In the documemtary, Abi says, “I was too afraid to tell anyone.” I was afraid to tell my mom.
The two-part documentary, which features poignant interviews with Abi’s brothers – Jaah and Robert Kelly Jr., as well as their mother, Drea Kelly, unveils her undiscovered narrative, “He did to me what he did to me.” His ex-wife responds, “But you didn’t have to do it to my damn kids.”
When Abi was 10 years old in 2009, she claims to havr notified her mother Andrea. Together, they flew to Illinois to lodge the accusations in an anonymous police report.
They were informed, nevertheless, that since they had “waited too long” to come forward, the police would be unable to assist.
Prosecutors might file charges against a suspect for alleged sex offenses for up to 10 years prior to 2019 but only if the offense was reported to the police within 3 years of it occurring.
“It seems like that one millisecond utterly altered my entire existence, transformed my identity as a person and altered the brilliance and brightness I once possessed.”Abi expressed.
“My brother Robert and sister Jaah stopped going over there when I told my mother. I stopped going there as well. And I still have a lot of trouble with it now.
The courageous daughter claimed that she was maybe 8 or 9 years old at the time of the alleged abuse.
In a documentary, she adds, “I just remember waking up to him touching me,” while crying.
In the documentary, she adds, since I was at a loss for what to do, I just sort of lay there and pretended to be asleep.
Kelly,57, has angrily refuted the accusations made by his daughter.”His ex-wife made the same allegation years ago, and it was investigated by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and was unfounded.”The singer’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjea said in a statement that provided to people.
“And Mr. Kelly and his team were not contacted by the ‘filmmakers,’
whoever theh may be, to even give him the opportunity to refute these hurtful accusations.”
Kelly was found guilty in February
2023 of enticing youngsters for sex and producing child
pornography. He was given a 20 year prison sentence.
The previous year, he was found
guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking on New York-based charges, and he was given a 30 year jail sentence. Kelly, then 27 years old, wedded
the singer Aaliyah, then 15 years old, in a surprise Chicago ceremony.
However, the marriage was dissolved when it was discovered that Aaliyah’s actual age had not been disclosed on the marriage license.
