Katy Perry is reportedly trying to return to her judging role on American Idol after stepping down earlier this year to focus on her music and family. Sources say Perry, whose latest album 143 flopped, is eager to return to the show after her music comeback failed to take off.
She left American Idol after seven years, intending to prioritize her fiancé Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy, but now seeks to reclaim her spot. However, Carrie Underwood has already been chosen as her replacement for the next season, and it’s unlikely Perry will return unless the show struggles in ratings.
Perry’s new album, 143, released in September, was widely panned by critics, with its lead single, “Woman’s World,” being called outdated and peaking at a disappointing 63 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her collaboration with controversial producer Dr. Luke may have also hurt the album’s performance.
On top of her music woes, Perry is facing a personal crisis after a major water leak caused severe damage to her $15 million mansion, a property she won in a legal battle against 85-year-old Carl Westcott.
Westcott had challenged the sale, claiming he was not fully aware of the deal due to medication following surgery. The second phase of the trial, determining damages, has been delayed due to issues with the property transfer and the water damage.
