Rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested in Florida on murder-for-hire charges.
According to reports, the 32-year-old Grammy-winning artist was taken into custody on Thursday and is being held in a Broward County jail, awaiting transfer to U.S. Marshals.
Although details of his arrest remain unclear, it follows federal murder-for-hire charges against five individuals allegedly involved in a plot to target Georgia rapper Quando Rondo in response to the killing of Chicago rapper King Von. This information comes from an indictment filed in a Los Angeles U.S. District Court.
Lil Durk, who threw a ceremonial pitch at a Chicago White Sox game in 2022, was close to King Von, also known as Dayvon Bennett. King Von was part of Banks’ “Only The Family” group and frequently collaborated with him, including on songs like “Crazy Story.”
In honor of Bennett, who was killed in a 2020 Atlanta shooting, Banks released “The Voice.”
Lil Durk is known for hit tracks like “All My Life” with J. Cole, “Broadway Girls” with Morgan Wallen, and his feature on Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later.”
