Rymir Satterthwaite, a 31-year-old man who claims to be JAY-Z’s son, continues to push for the music mogul to take a paternity test, which he says has yet to happen.
During an interview on Dec. 17, Satterthwaite opened up about his lengthy legal battle, revealing that his late mother, Wanda, told him she allegedly had a brief relationship with JAY-Z in 1992, resulting in his birth. For more than a decade, Satterthwaite has sought clarity, insisting his goal is not fame or fortune but the truth.
“If he’s not my father, why can’t he prove me wrong?” Satterthwaite asked. “Go to the courtroom and do what everyone else has to do. I can handle a no or even being embarrassed. What I can’t handle is him saying nothing. It’s not fair.”
Despite the criticism his claims have attracted, Satterthwaite maintains he harbors no ill will toward JAY-Z, a father of three. “I would never hate JAY-Z. I respect him for everything he’s accomplished,” he said. “This fight isn’t just for me; it’s for my late mom and my godmother. We’ve endured slander and pain from accusations that I’m after JAY-Z’s money. But this isn’t about money—it’s about truth.”
Satterthwaite is determined to continue seeking answers about his identity, saying, “I will fight until the end. If it takes another 10 years or even 50, I may take this to my grave, but everyone will know I fought until the very end.”
He has accused JAY-Z’s legal team of using legal technicalities to avoid a paternity test. Satterthwaite claims that despite filing multiple lawsuits, starting in 2008—two years after JAY-Z married Beyoncé—his efforts have been met with legal challenges. Pennsylvania courts dismissed his case due to his age at the time of filing, and he alleges JAY-Z’s attorneys exploited this to avoid accountability. JAY-Z has never personally addressed the claims, either to confirm or deny them.
After JAY-Z recently denied allegations of raping a 13-year-old alongside Diddy, Satterthwaite publicly criticized his lack of transparency regarding the paternity case. “If Mr. Carter values honor and protecting children, as he claims, he should step forward with transparency,” he wrote. “Despite my efforts, Mr. Carter has never sent me a letter addressing these claims—whether to deny or acknowledge paternity or to explain why his attorneys committed this fraud.”
JAY-Z has largely remained silent on the matter.
