Hamas released three Israeli hostages on Saturday, shocking many with their emaciated and weak condition.
The hostages, who were taken during the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross and then transported to Israel, where they were reunited with their families. In exchange, Israel freed 183 Palestinian prisoners, some of whom were convicted for deadly attacks. While the hostages’ return brought joy to their families, many were distressed by their condition, which was described as similar to concentration camp survivors.
