U.S. forces conducted two sets of precision strikes against Iran-backed forces and their facilities in Iraq this week, responding directly to attacks on U.S. and coalition forces by Iran and its affiliates.
The strikes targeted an operations center and a command node of the Iran-backed group Kataib Hezbollah.
A defense official reported at least six militants killed in these actions.
This follows Monday’s U.S. response to an Iran-backed missile attack on al-Asad Air Base, marking an escalation with the use of ballistic missiles.
The Pentagon confirmed injuries to eight U.S. personnel and minor infrastructure damage.
