A 32-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Shawn Monper, has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill former President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and U.S. immigration agents. The Justice Department announced that Monper faces four federal charges related to threats against government and law enforcement officials. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the FBI was alerted on April 8, 2025, to a series of violent threats posted on YouTube under the alias “Mr Satan.” The posts, made between January 15 and April 5, were traced to Monper’s home in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Investigators revealed that Monper obtained a firearms permit shortly after Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025. In a February comment, he allegedly called for violence against Trump, Elon Musk, and Trump-appointed agency heads. He also claimed to be stockpiling weapons and gear, stating in March that he had been buying a gun each month since the election. Another post threatened a mass shooting, and in early April, he allegedly said he would treat any armed ICE agent he encountered as an active shooter and open fire.
Monper was arrested on April 9 by the FBI and Butler Township Police and is being held pending a preliminary hearing on April 14. Attorney General Pamela Bondi commended law enforcement for preventing a potential act of violence, stating that the Justice Department remains committed to aggressively pursuing those who threaten assassination or mass attacks.
