Prime Minister Petteri Orpo announced the closure of Finland’s last border crossing with Russia, citing concerns that the Kremlin is orchestrating a surge in migrants as part of “hybrid warfare” to destabilize the country after its NATO entry.
Approximately 900 migrants have crossed from Russia this month, prompting the government to close all eastern border crossing points.
Finland accuses Russia of organizing the influx, linking it to influencing operations.
Moscow denies these allegations, expressing regret over the border closures and urging a mutual solution.
The move follows warnings of potential retaliation from Russia after Finland joined NATO.
