Governor Tim Walz expressed frustration during a Wednesday news conference over the federal government’s decision to tax Minnesotans who received rebate checks this year.
Referring to it as “bullsh–,” Walz, discussing the 2024 budget surplus forecast, highlighted potential costs of up to $286 for some residents based on their rebate amounts.
Despite efforts to address the issue with the IRS and communication with Biden administration officials, Walz indicated no successful resolution.
The Minnesota Department of Revenue plans to issue 1099-MISC forms to those who received rebates.
