Toyota Motor is recalling over 1 million vehicles in the United States due to a system defect impacting the airbag deployment system.
The recall involves various models, including Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Lexus ES250, Highlander, and Sienna Hybrid vehicles from 2020 to 2022.
The issue relates to potential malfunctions in the Occupant Classification System sensors, which are crucial for preventing airbag deployment when a small adult or child occupies the front seat.
Dealers will inspect and replace the sensors free of charge, and affected customers will be notified by mid-February.
Additionally, last month, Toyota recalled 1.85 million RAV4 SUVs in the U.S. due to fire risks associated with replacement battery installations.
