The Nigerian Immigration Service, in a letter dated December 22, 2023, directed that Nigerians with expired passports returning for the festive season be granted entry without obstacles.
The Federal Government’s effort to ease the return process for Nigerians in the diaspora allows admission with expired passports.
Airlines are instructed to permit boarding for such passengers, and embassies are urged to publicize the directive.
Entry/exit points are directed to open help desks for reissuing passports within two weeks.
It is reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ office couldn’t confirm the letter, and NIS’s spokesperson wasn’t reachable.
