The 75th Emmy Awards commenced with the two-night Creative Arts Emmys at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations: The Complete List
It was a big night for HBO’s The Last of Us, which took a total of eight trophies on Night 1 of the Creative Arts Emmys. Nick Offerman won his first Emmy in the Guest Actor in a Drama Series category for playing Bill in the episode titled “Long, Long Time .” Storm Reid, who appeared in the episode titled “Left Behind” on the series based on the PlayStation video game, also took an award for Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
In comedy, Sam Richardson took the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Edwin Akufo in Ted Lasso, while Judith Light gave Peacock its first Emmy, winning the Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for Poker Face .
Netflix’s Wednesday also had a big night, taking a total of five trophies on the first night, which included Contemporary Costumes for a Series, Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More), Composition for a Series (Original Drama Score) and Original Main Title Theme Music.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story won Outstanding Television Movie, with the film also taking an award for Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special (Original Dramatic Score).
The casting categories give a possible peek at who could win the main acting awards, with The White Lotus winning for Casting for a Drama Series, Beef for Casting for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and The Bear winning for Casting for a Comedy Series.

There are some interesting battles to watch for this weekend as well as a few notable possible winners. What isn’t being handed out, however, is the award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, which landed a last-minute reprieve from the Television Academy and was moved to primetime after a campaign by the WGA (and the threat of being charged for clips).
Saturday’s Creative Arts ceremony featured largely the scripted awards that are not being doled out on Monday, January 15 during the Primetime Emmys telecast on Fox, with Sunday almost exclusively devoted to reality and nonfiction. On Sunday, it’s reality television’s turn.
Jimmy Fallon is up for the best game show, the first time that award has been out of Daytime, while Scandoval could help Vanderpump Rules to its first-ever Emmy.
Mayim Bialik is up for Outstanding Host for a Game Show for a game show – Jeopardy! – from which she was recently fired, RuPaul is looking to keep his win streak going, and Stanley Tucci is competing against Michelle Obama and Oprah in the hosted nonfiction series category.
Talking of the Obamas, President Barack Obama could win for a second year in a row for a different show, this time for Working: What We Do All Day . In addition, Kid Cudi is looking for an animated win and Tim Robinson is battling James Corden for the Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series award.
There are also two major documentary awards for series and specials featuring the likes of Dear Mama, 100 Foot Wave, The 1619 Project, Being Mary Tyler Moore and docs about Judy Blume, Pamela Anderson and Michael J. Fox.
Finally, Norman Lear could add to his Emmy haul posthumously as ABC’s Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music and Laughter is up against the likes of Carol Burnett, John Mulaney, Lizzo, Trevor Noah and Wanda Sykes.
An edited presentation of the Creative Arts ceremonies will air on Saturday, January 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX.
Below are Saturday’s winners. Check back for Sunday’s results.
