On Sunday, the 81st annual Golden Globes brought together Hollywood’s prominent figures at the Beverly Hilton.
The red carpet showcased an array of impressive styles, ranging from vibrant suits to eye-catching ball gowns. Here are some highlights of the night’s standout looks.
Andra Day’s semi-sheer gown featured eye-catching rosettes.
Day’s Georges Chakra dress had a one-shoulder neckline and an asymmetrical hemline that flowed into a train on one side.
A rosette adorned the slightly sheer black gown on one shoulder, as well as on the hem of the skirt, and sparkly embellishments covered the bodice. She wore black heels with the playful look.
• Selena Gomez’s red dress had bold cutouts.
Gomez’s custom Armani Privé gown had an A-line silhouette that flowed into an asymmetrical skirt, showing off her red shoes.
The halter bodice crisscrossed over her chest, creating cutouts along the gown accented by black, sparkly flowers. A black belt cinched her waist, and Gomez paired diamond jewelry with the look.
• Julia Garner sparkled in a silver dress on the red carpet.
The bodice of Garner’s Gucci gown consisted of just two thin strips of fabric while the rest plunged to her waist.
The dress hugged her figure, and it glittered as she walked the red carpet.
• Lily Gladstone paired a ruched cape with a white gown.
Gladstone arrived at the Golden Globes in a white Valentino dress, which she paired with an off-the-shoulder jacket that functioned as a cape. The cape was ruched on its hem, contrasting with her simple dress.
She paired the gown with earrings from Lenise Omeasoo of Antelope Women Designs, a Blackfeet designer, as Gladstone shared on the red carpet. Jason Rembert styled the look.
• The back of Greta Lee’s gown was eye-catching.Greta Lee attends the 2024 Golden Globes.
Lee’s Loewe dress looked simple in the front, but the back created a vertical bow knotted in the center of the actor’s back.
The skirt flowed into a mermaid train under the bow. The entire dress was made of slinky, cream fabric.
• Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s maroon gown featured an intricate bodice.
“The Holdovers” actor walked the Golden Globes red carpet in a custom gown from Rodarte. The strapless dress flared at her waist into a dramatic peplum.
The volume offset the crystal embellishments covering the gown’s neckline, which angled upwards, and the skirt flowed into a delicate train.
• Tyler James Williams chose a striped suit for the awards show.
Williams’ taupe suit was lined with vertical stripes, and his pants had a slight flair, creating a lean look.
The “Abbot Elementary” star paired the suit with a black tie, a simple chain, black shoes, and a cream faux flower on his lapel.
• Heidi Klum’s red ball gown had a dramatic train.
The sparkly bodice of Klum’s strapless Sophie Couture gown hugged her figure, flowing into a dropped waist.
But the gown’s skirt drew the eye as its voluminous folds turned into a lengthy train. A thigh-high slit revealed the matching red shoes Klum paired with the dress.
• Colman Domingo elevated his all-black look with brooches.
Domingo’s custom Louis Vuitton ensemble consisted of a collarless jacket lined with silver buttons and slim-fitted pants.
A white shirt and black tie peeked out from under the jacket, which Domingo accessorized with two sparkly brooches.
• Kristen Wiig wore a black two-piece set to the Golden Globes
Wiig arrived at the awards show in a corset-style crop top with a coordinating, ultra-high-waisted skirt with a subtle train. The black ensemble was covered in a subtle crisscross pattern, creating texture as she moved on the red carpet.
Black bows accented the spaghetti straps of Wiig’s top, adding a feminine touch to the look.
• Ayo Edebiri popped in a custom Prada dress.
Edebiri’s tea-length dress had a sheath silhouette and a strapless neckline.
A train attached at the back of the dress, acting like a cape that trailed “The Bear” star as she walked the red carpet. Red, pointed-toe heels completed her look.
• Margot Robbie paid homage to Barbie on the red carpet.
Robbie continued her streak of taking inspiration from Barbie dolls for her red-carpet look, wearing a dress modeled after the Superstar Barbie from 1977. The outfit, which was styled by Andrew Mukamal, was custom-made by Armani Privé.
Her hot-pink dress was covered in sequins and had a V-neckline. She wore a fishnet boa around her arms, adding drama to the ensemble.
• Dua Lipa arrived at the awards show in a custom Schiaparelli dress.
The singer’s black dress had a straight, strapless neckline, a mermaid skirt, and corset detailing on the back.
Gold embellishments adorned the gown’s form-fitting bodice in a shape mimicking the human body, according to W Magazine.
• Sequins created a floral print on Natalie Portman’s dress.
The “May December” actor’s A-line dress from Dior had a scooped neckline with simple straps.
The silhouette was simple, but the gown was covered in small sequins, creating a sparkly floral pattern that got deeper in color as the dress flowed down.
• America Ferrera’s silver gown featured 3D detailing.
Ferrera chose a form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana dress for the Golden Globes.
The silver gown’s spaghetti straps framed a square neckline, and the dress featured dozens of pearl embellishments that offered texture as she walked the red carpet. Karla Welch styled the look.
• Jennifer Lopez’s pink ball gown stood out thanks to its statement sleeves.
The silhouette of Lopez’s custom Nicole + Felicia Couture dress was simple, with a strapless neckline and a subtle train.
But the coordinating, detached cape made the dress stand out, as it sat on Lopez’s arms with oversized rosettes that drew the eye.
• Carey Mulligan’s vintage Schiaparelli dress featured subtle sparkles.
Mulligan dove into Schiaparelli’s archives for her Golden Globes look, selecting a strapless, black dress with ruching in the center that flowed into a mermaid skirt.
An asymmetrical strip of white fabric ran across the top of the bodice, which was covered in sparkly, 3D embellishments.
