A Boeing aircraft had to perform an emergency landing in Japan on Saturday due to the discovery of a crack in the cockpit window’s outermost layer.
The 737-800 plane, not to be confused with the recent 737 MAX 9 incident, was en route to Toyama when the issue was detected.
Despite the scare, the pilot safely returned to Sapporo-New Chitose airport, with no injuries reported among the 59 passengers and six crew members. The spokesperson clarified that the crack didn’t impact the flight’s control or pressurization.
Meanwhile, federal investigators are examining the recent 737 MAX 9 incident, investigating the possibility that the hardware meant to secure a cabin panel was never installed.
