President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has unveiled a comprehensive approach to address insecurity, proposing the deployment of technologically equipped forest guards armed with modern weapons.
Additionally, he outlined plans to safeguard the nation’s solid minerals and marine economic sectors through the creation of dedicated police units.
During a meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja, President Tinubu stressed the importance of inclusive and sustainable development policies.
He urged All Progressives Congress (APC) aligned governors to tackle divisive challenges, fostering unity and healing by establishing a collective national vision.
Calling for policies prioritizing all Nigerians, the President encouraged governors to prioritize the national interest over political affiliations.
He emphasized the potential for conversion and appealed for a united effort towards nation-building.
President Tinubu expressed a commitment to re-engineer Nigeria’s financial system for inclusivity and efficiency, asserting that the country, rich in human and natural resources, should not face infrastructural challenges, poor education, or substandard health facilities.
Advocating for a marine police force and initiatives for solid minerals, he pledged to invest in security to protect valuable resources like gold, aiming to boost the foreign exchange reserve.
In response, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State thanked the President for involving governors in policy design and implementation, expressing continued support from the Progressive Governors Forum.
