On Monday, a United Airlines flight bound for Japan faced delays before take-off due to an issue with the plane’s engine.
Flight UA35, set to depart from San Francisco International Airport to Osaka at 12:05 p.m., experienced a setback.
After more than an hour of taxiing, the Boeing 777-200 returned to the gate, and passengers and crew disembarked around 1:45 p.m.
Passenger Belinda Pitco recounted the pilot’s announcement citing a malfunction in the right engine.
This incident marked at least the 10th of its kind involving the airline in the past two weeks.
It coincided with CEO Scott Kirby’s email to customers reassuring them of the airline’s safety amidst recent widely reported incidents, including a mid-flight engine fire and a wheel detachment during take-off.
Kirby acknowledged the incidents, emphasizing their unrelated nature and the airline’s heightened focus on safety.
