The Defence Headquarters in Abuja has announced the pursuit of Simon Ekpa, a key figure in the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), along with 96 others nationwide.
These individuals are wanted for activities related to terrorism, violent extremism, and separatist actions.
Ekpa, known for leading a section of IPOB and organizing the controversial Monday sit-at-home in the South-East, is the primary target.
Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the identities of those sought.
The list comprises individuals from various regions, including the North East, North West, North Central, and South East.
In the breakdown, 43 individuals are sought in the North West, 33 in the North East, and 21 in the North Central and South East combined.
Notable figures among those sought in the South East include Ekpa and others associated with IPOB.
Ekpa’s recent detention in Finland, shortly before the 2023 elections in Nigeria, garnered attention due to his activism and calls for boycotts.
Despite IPOB’s disavowal of Ekpa, he remains active on social media, advocating for Biafran causes.
