Following the newly revised procedures regarding the arrest and bail of suspects by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, issued a directive to cease night-time sting operations in all EFCC Commands. This decision, made on November 1, 2023, in Abuja, was prompted by the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by the operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Commission.
As a result of this directive, a number of the suspects who had been duly profiled by the Command have been released, while the profiling of remaining suspects yet to be released will be promptly completed. The Commission wants to reassure the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law in the execution of its duties.
