The most recent updates share details about WWE’s apparent decision regarding a female wrestler who retired at 36.
After an impressive 12-year wrestling career, Japanese star Saki Akai bid farewell to the ring at DDT Pro Wrestling’s Ultimate Party event on November 12.
Her final match, alongside Yukio Sakaguchi and Hideki Okatani, marked the end of their Six-Man Tag Team Championship reign.
In recognition of her contributions, Akai was honored and offered a staff position within DDT Pro Wrestling, an offer she graciously accepted.
She also received heartfelt video messages from Hiroshi Tanahashi and WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura.
However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter disclosed that WWE restricted Nakamura’s clip from airing on DDT Pro Wrestling’s television, limiting its exposure to the live audience.
Despite this, the video created a notable buzz among Japanese wrestling fans when featured on a show with former world champion Chris Jericho.
