A former gang member and FBI informant, John Turscak, faces attempted murder charges for stabbing ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin 22 times at a federal prison in Arizona.
Turscak, serving a 30-year sentence, cited Chauvin’s high-profile status as motivation.
Despite initial admissions, he later denied intent to kill.
The attack occurred in the prison’s law library on Nov. 24, with correctional officers swiftly intervening.
Turscak claimed symbolic ties to Black Lives Matter and the Mexican Mafia’s “Black Hand” symbol.
Charged with assault-related offenses, he awaits trial while already serving time until 2026.
Chauvin, convicted in George Floyd’s death, had been relocated for safety reasons.
