A Catholic priest in a small Nebraska city, Rev. Stephen Gutgsell, tragically lost his life after being assaulted during a church rectory invasion at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun.
The Archdiocese of Omaha expressed condolences, and local authorities confirmed the incident, assuring the public that a suspect is in custody, and there’s no ongoing danger.
Gutgsell was transferred to Nebraska Medicine, where he succumbed to his injuries.
