The Accra International Conference Centre’s Grand Arena buzzed with excitement during the 2023 “Rhythms of Africa,” the year’s largest gospel musical event.
Curated by the renowned UK-based Ghanaian gospel artist Sonnie Badu in collaboration with George Quaye’s Image Bureau, the sold-out event featured A-list gospel artists such as Preye Odede, Joe Mettle, Nacee, Piesie Esther, Perez Musik, and MOG Music.
Despite the star-studded lineup, Badu revealed in an interview with Onua TV that the show was organized without significant sponsors, leading him to sell his Rolex watch to fund the event.
Expressing dismay, he highlighted the challenge of securing sponsorship for gospel music events in Ghana.
