Hong Kong police have issued a caution regarding an increase in plane thefts in 2023.
A Chinese passenger, Zhang Ziuqiang, faces charges in Singapore after $23,000 was stolen from fellow passengers during a Scoot flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Changi Airport on December 16.
The 52-year-old is accused of stealing cash from various bags, and if convicted, he could face up to three years in jail and a fine.
The incident follows a surge in plane thefts, prompting Hong Kong police to advise passengers to be vigilant with their belongings.
