After spending 44 years in prison for a wrongful conviction of raping a prominent white woman, Ronnie Long, a North Carolina man, has been granted a historic $25 million settlement.
The city of Concord settled for $22 million, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation previously settled for $3 million, making it the second-largest recorded wrongful conviction settlement, as reported by Duke Law School’s Wrongful Convictions Clinic.
