An 80-year-old Canadian woman, suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, was reportedly raped by a 61-year-old male tourist from Nova Scotia at the Warwick Hotel Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
The incident occurred on Jan. 28, with the suspect now in Bahamian prison awaiting trial.
The woman’s son, David Ahrens, shared the traumatic event on LinkedIn, urging caution for travelers with vulnerable loved ones.
The search for his mother involved Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Tom Justice, who successfully apprehended the suspect.
The incident adds to concerns following recent reports of sexual assaults in the Bahamas, leading the State Department to issue a level two travel advisory.
