Idris Elba, renowned Hollywood actor, is set to direct the Lagos-based short film “Dust To Dreams” in collaboration with Nigerian filmmaker Mo Abudu.
Exploring the dynamic between a mother and her teenage daughter as they encounter the daughter’s father for the first time, “Dust to Dreams” promises an engaging narrative.
Mo Abudu shared details about the project on social media, revealing that the film will feature British-Nigerian music star Seal, alongside Nollywood actors Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and former Nigerian Idol contestant Constance Olatunde.
Based on a report from Deadline, the film marks a partnership between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).
Excited about the collaboration, Mo Abudu expressed her enthusiasm, highlighting the significance of the venture.
“Dust To Dreams” is a notable outcome of the co-production deal inked by Abudu and Elba’s production companies, EbonyLife Media and Green Door Pictures, in 2023.
Abudu, the creative force behind the film, will also take on roles as executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys serving as supervising producer.
Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme join as co-producers on the project.
