The embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has vowed to swiftly end insecurity in the South East within two minutes if released from detention.
Kanu asserted his authority, stating that no one in the South East could defy his directives regarding the region’s security.
Addressing journalists in the courtroom of the Abuja Federal High Court, Kanu expressed frustration, accusing some government officials of profiting from the region’s insecurity.
He emphasized his capability to bring peace to the South East once released.
Despite Kanu’s plea for bail, Justice Binta Nyako denied the application but ordered an accelerated hearing of his case, which involves charges of terrorism and treasonable felony.
Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his arrest in June 2021.
Justice Nyako ruled for an expedited trial, instructing the prosecution to present its first witness.
