The Ministry of Justice’s administration overseeing Monrovia Central Prison has declared the closure of the female inmates’ cell due to overcrowding issues.
Authorities at the facility cited insufficient space for accommodating more inmates, but assured plans are in progress to expand the capacity of the cell.
Monrovia Central Prison, the largest detention center in the city, falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice.
