China has proudly announced the execution of a suspected American spy as part of its efforts to emphasize vigilance against espionage.
The disclosure came in a documentary produced by China’s counter-espionage authority, the Ministry of State Security.
The executed individual, Huang Yu, reportedly sold sensitive information to the United States, including military communications data, for which he received $700,000 from his foreign handlers.
Huang, a former researcher on classified projects, was dismissed for poor performance and allegedly sought to defect, reaching out to a foreign spy agency.
He was accused of involving his wife in copying and selling secret documents.
China portrayed his actions as causing serious harm to national security, leading to his execution in 2016.
This narrative is part of China’s campaign to combat espionage and promote public awareness about national security.
