Former President Donald Trump reportedly mentioned in an April 2024 “farewell message” that he could face jail time if things didn’t go his way.
On April 22, 2024, a tweet from @GeneralMCNews shared an image of what seemed to be a message from Trump discussing an upcoming “GAG ORDER hearing” and the possibility of imprisonment if the outcome was unfavorable. The tweet gained significant attention with over 536,500 views.
Some users questioned the message’s authenticity, noting it wasn’t found on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
Trump was undergoing trial for 34 felony counts related to alleged falsification of business records and pleaded not guilty. The judge imposed a gag order to prevent Trump from targeting individuals involved in the case.
The message referenced in the tweet was confirmed to be authentic and was archived by The Archive of Political Emails and on Trump’s fundraising site.
Additionally, an NBC News article published on April 23 discussed the message in relation to the ongoing legal proceedings. Trump’s attorney refuted claims of intentional violation of the gag order.
Trump had previously remarked that being jailed for violating a gag order would be a point of honor.
