A man accused of killing his six-year-old son by making him run on a treadmill has faced trial in New Jersey.
Christopher Gregor, 31, allegedly met his son Corey Micciolo for the first time just a year before the tragic incident when he was sued for child support.
During the trial, a disturbing video was shown where Gregor reportedly made Corey run faster and faster on a treadmill, causing him to fall multiple times.
The court heard that Gregor was not actively involved in Corey’s life until he was five years old, according to his mother, Breanna Micciolo.
Defense attorney Mario Gallucci explained that Gregor discovered he was being sued for child support for a child he had never met while studying at Johns Hopkins University in 2017.
Gallucci admitted the video evidence was shocking but claimed it had no relation to Corey’s death.
Corey’s mother tearfully testified about exchanges with Gregor and reported her concerns to child protection services days before Corey’s death.
Corey told a caseworker that his father forced him to run because he was “too fat.”
Corey died the day after experiencing symptoms like slurred speech and nausea.
A forensic pathologist concluded Corey’s death was a homicide due to chronic abuse, and Gregor was arrested in 2022 on charges related to his son’s death and is currently in custody without bond.
