A mother in Texas instructed her 3-year-old son to bid farewell to his father on camera just before she shot the child in a ditch and then took her own life with a gun.
This tragic incident occurred a day before she was scheduled to appear in court for a custody hearing with her ex-husband, according to law enforcement officials.
Savannah Kriger, aged 32, and her son Kaiden were discovered deceased with gunshot wounds to their heads at a San Antonio park on March 19.
Investigators have spent weeks reconstructing their final moments as they investigated the murder-suicide.
In the lead-up to the killings, Kriger targeted her former wedding photos with gunfire, vandalized her ex-husband’s residence, and sent him a series of FaceTime videos and texts with ominous warnings such as, “You won’t have anything left by the end of the day.”
According to reports from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the series of unfortunate events started when Kriger finished her job in the afternoon of March 18 and then went straight to her ex-husband’s house while he was at work.
