A former Atlanta Police Department officer named Koby Minor admitted to shooting his Lyft driver in the head, according to a reports.
Minor became suspicious of the driver, Reginald Folks, who was on a phone call in another language while picking Minor up from another officer’s home.
Minor told police he tried to exit the car at a red light but the door wouldn’t open. He then fatally shot Folks three times, claiming he was unsure of Folks’ sexuality and believed he was being kidnapped when Folks reached toward the back seat.
A witness reported that Minor claimed the driver was trying to recruit him into a gay fraternity.
Minor was on unpaid leave after being arrested in December 2023 with Xanax pills following a car crash.
He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault.
