Fox Corporation’s Tubi is set to enter the competitive ad-supported video streaming market in the UK, challenging major players like Netflix, Disney+, ITVX, and the BBC iPlayer.
Tubi, which boasts nearly 80 million monthly active users in the United States, aims to replicate its success across the Atlantic.
In the UK, Tubi plans to launch with a vast library of over 20,000 movies and TV series, featuring content from prominent studios such as Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Viewers can access Tubi’s offerings through its website, smartphone app, and smart TVs.
Additionally, Tubi will feature a variety of content catering to British, Indian, and Nigerian audiences.
Fox Corporation acquired Tubi in 2020 for $440 million, part of its strategy to engage younger demographics in the evolving media landscape.
Amidst increasing competition and rising subscription fees from streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Tubi’s entry into the UK market represents a strategic move to provide free, ad-supported content amid growing demand from consumers.
