Kennedy, the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, is reportedly exploring an agreement with Donald Trump, potentially endorsing him in exchange for a prominent position in a future Republican administration. Trump recently expressed openness to such a partnership.
Kennedy and his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, have submitted a “voluntary withdrawal” from the November election in Arizona, according to Secretary of State Adrian Fontes.
Kennedy plans to give a speech in Phoenix, Arizona, to outline his “path forward.”
His campaign, which focused on small-state liberalism and opposing large corporations, currently has about five percent of nationwide voter support.
With his departure, both major political parties will likely compete to gain his supporters, potentially impacting the outcome in key swing states.
