Adele has announced that she will be taking an extended break from music after wrapping up her Las Vegas residency in November. During her final show in Munich on August 31, the singer shared with the audience that she has 10 more shows in Vegas, but afterward, she plans to step away from the spotlight for a significant amount of time.
The 36-year-old singer explained that she’s been touring and performing non-stop for nearly three years and is ready to focus on her personal life. Fighting back tears, Adele expressed her desire to live the life she’s been building over the past seven years and told fans she would miss them dearly.
While Munich was originally intended to be the last stop of her tour, she revealed that she’ll be performing the additional shows in Vegas to make up for dates missed when she fell ill in 2022. Adele emphasized that this has been the longest period she’s ever committed to performing and hinted she may not take on such an extensive schedule again.
The singer’s residency at Caesars Colosseum in Las Vegas is set to continue until November 23, but it’s uncertain when she will return to music or performing.
Over the last three years, Adele has been touring her Grammy-winning album ’30’, which includes hits like “I Drink Wine,” “Hold On,” and “Love is a Game.” This album, released in 2021, followed a six-year hiatus after her successful third album ’25’.
Adele’s recent work, particularly the album ’30’, was influenced by her emotional experiences following her 2019 divorce from Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a son named Angelo. Since their split, the pair have continued to co-parent.
In recent years, while living in the U.S., Adele has found love with American sports agent Rich Paul, whom she began dating in 2021.
Earlier this year, Adele also shared her desire to start a family with Paul, specifically hoping for a baby girl. She joked with the audience at a Las Vegas show that their future daughter would likely be a “bossy little queen” with both her and Paul as parents.
