A woman sustained severe injuries after being attacked by her three pit bulls in Brooklyn Park on Tuesday.
Brooklyn Park police responded to a call from the Huntington Place Apartments on the 5800 block of Zane Ave. North at 9:26 p.m. after hearing the woman’s cries for help.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman critically injured from the attack.
A security guard from Huntington Place was also hurt, sustaining a hand injury while trying to intervene, and injuring one of the dogs in the process.
The woman was given medical assistance by the officers before being transported to the hospital, where she is now in critical but stable condition.
The cause of the attack remains unclear, but police confirmed that the dogs belonged to the victim and her boyfriend.
One of the dogs was euthanized at the scene due to its aggressive behavior, while the other two were taken into custody. Of those two, one was later euthanized due to severe injuries, and the third dog is currently quarantined at an animal shelter.
This incident is the third dog attack in Brooklyn Park in the past two months.
In July, a three-year-old child was killed in an attack by an XL Bully breed, and a seven-year-old was injured in another pit bull attack less than a week later.
