On September 5, 2024, Davido was seen in Paris in a video shared on social media, where he met a fan claiming to be a Prince from Saudi Arabia. In reply, Davido called himself the “King of Nigeria” before agreeing to take a photo with the Prince.
The video also disclosed that Davido is scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia later this year.
Davido’s self-styled title “King of Nigeria” adds to his existing nicknames, including “OBO (Omo Baba Olowo),” meaning son of a wealthy man, which originated from his 2012 hit ‘Dami Duro.’ He is also known as “Baddest” and “001,” reflecting his prominent status in Afrobeats.
The year 2024 has started well for Davido, who received three nominations for the 66th Grammys.
He recently generated Grammy buzz with his new single ‘Joy,’ a collaboration with 5X Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, released on August 30, just before the deadline for the 67th Grammys.
Davido is also set to release his fifth album in 2024, which he has described as his best work yet.
