Dammy Krane has submitted a petition against singer Davido, seeking $500,000 in compensation.
The dispute between them began in October 2023 when Krane accused Davido on social media of owing him for songwriting contributions. Krane also alleged that Davido undermined his record deal with Sony Music.
In response, Davido called Krane “ungrateful” and denied any payments for their work together. Davido claimed he had supported Krane during a period of homelessness.
Krane has continued to criticize Davido online, even alleging Davido’s involvement in the death of his friend Tagbo Umeike, who died from alleged alcohol poisoning in October 2017.
Davido has dismissed these allegations and threatened to sue Krane for defamation and cyberbullying.
Krane, in a letter on social media, detailed several grievances, including threats to his life and a call to re-open the investigation into Tagbo’s death. He also requested that the inspector-general lift restrictions on his bank accounts, which he says are impeding his access to funds.
Krane is asking Egbetokun to ensure Davido pays him the $500,000 agreed upon for their song “Pere,” which Davido has reportedly not paid.
Krane claims he is distressed by his recent arrest and ongoing threats, asserting that Davido arranged his detention under false pretenses related to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams.
Krane was released from the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) on August 29 after six days in custody with the help of Martins Otse, the activist popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), who made an appeal to Davido for his release.
