A second judge has denied bail to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, citing concerns that he might interfere with witnesses.
Combs had sought bail in federal court in New York after spending a second day in jail following his Monday arrest on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Earlier, a magistrate judge had also denied bail and ordered Combs to jail after his initial court appearance and not guilty plea.
On Wednesday, the case was overseen by a different judge who will manage it through trial.
Combs’s attorneys argued for bail, proposing a $50 million package to allow Combs to be under home detention with GPS monitoring at his Miami Beach residence instead of staying in a Brooklyn federal jail. However, the judge again refused bail.
Combs’s arrest followed a federal investigation into sex trafficking that included raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami about six months prior.
The indictment, spanning 14 pages, includes charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, coercion, and transportation for prostitution.
It alleges that Combs forced victims into group sex acts, recorded them, and subjected them to drug use, requiring medical treatment.
The indictment claims that Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P Diddy, used his business empire to facilitate a range of crimes, including sex trafficking and forced labor.
Despite attempts by his lawyers to secure his release, including offering his passport and pledging to sell his private jet, prosecutors contended that Combs is a significant flight risk due to his substantial net worth.
