Elton John made a surprise appearance at Dua Lipa’s intimate show at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday, joining her for a performance of their hit song “Cold Heart.”
Near the end of Lipa’s set, which featured a full orchestra and multiple costume changes, John appeared on stage in a burgundy suit to sing his verse. While seated for most of the song, Lipa, adorned with feathers, held his hand as they sang the chorus together. Afterward, John stood to dance with Lipa, and the performance ended with an embrace.
This was only the second time the duo had performed the song together, the first being at John’s final U.S. concert at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles in November 2022.
John, who ended his farewell tour in Stockholm in July last year, recently made his first public appearance since, performing “Tiny Dancer” at the New York Film Festival for the premiere of his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late.”
Lipa’s show at the Royal Albert Hall gave a glimpse into her upcoming “Radical Optimism” tour, named after her newly released third album.
She also performed “Dance the Night” from the “Barbie” soundtrack for the first time, accompanied by dancers recreating the movie’s choreography.
